Barrister Ejiofor Alloy during an interview with BBC pidgin has affirmed that the degrading, inhumane, and unpalatable situation of the custody facility he is being detained, made Kanu Iand in terrible health condition.
Recall that, during Kanu’s trial, which was held about a week ago, his lawyer pleaded that he should be noted from the DSS headquarters in Abuja, where he is being detained to Kuje correctional facility, this application was rejected by Justice Anyako, who stated that the proposed Kuje facility was susceptible to attack and jailbreak from the members of the Eastern Security Network, a wing of the IPOB sect.
The lead counsel for the detained of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) convener, stated that the Department of State Services (DSS) custody where he was kept, has made Kanu Iand in terrible health condition and the facility does not have appropriate medical facilities to treat his conditions.
“Kanu has a heart disease called ‘heart murmur’ which have proven to be very severe, he was admitted to a hospital in Texas, the United States where he was being treated and was also being treated in Kenya before he was illegally abducted by the Nigerian authorities in Kenya”.
He also included that Kanu is a hypertensive patient, and his blood pressure has raised to the extreme, which has made him lose weight drastically.
