Finally, after days of the appeal, court released Ndubuisi Kanu’s Body to Uzodinma for proper burial.
Retired Rear Admiral Ndubusi Kanu was pronounced dead on January 23, 2021, by his families who revealed that he passed away earlier that day, after a brief sickness at age 78.
Ndubuisi was once a military administrator that ruled in Lagos and Imo, he is also a chieftain of democracy group (NADECO) till death.
Immediately after the announcement, his burial date was fixed, which was slated to hold October 13 and 15, in Abia, Imo, and Lagos state respectively.
Weeks ago, due to an internal dispute in the family, the first wife of the deceased .Mrs Gladys Kanu sued her siblings, fellow wives, the Nigerian Navy to court she begged the court to order all the involved person in the case, to allow her to anchor the burial ceremony according to her wishes.
This landed on the bad side of the children, who put up a fight and the eldest daughter, Mrs. Abiona revealed to the court that her dead mother was the First Lady with seven children, stating that the lawsuit instituted by Gladys was useless.
After several days of court session, the presiding judge ordered that the Ndubisi Kanu body should not be released to the families, stating that this is a preventive measure to avoid any alterations to the body.
The High Court Court Released Ndubuisi Kanu’s Body to Uzodinma (Governor Of Imo) for proper burial, and a military rite was performed earlier today in Imo State.
