“Tinubu Can’t Be Sworn In”: Court Gives Verdict On Anti-Tinubu’s Protester

A magistrate court in Abuja has denied bail to a man who disrupted a flight a few weeks ago by protesting that “Tinubu Can’t Be Sworn In” as the president-elect.

The accused, Obiajuli Uja, was handed over to the police after the court found that his bail application was premature.

Senior Magistrate Mohammed Abdulazeez Ismail of the magistrate court, while giving his verdict on the bail application filed by Uja’s lawyer, noted that the application was not sufficient to prove that the defendant was not fit to stand trial.

According to the magistrate, the exhibits attached to Uja’s application indicated that his mind was not well-sounded.

Ismail also stated that while the constitution guarantees every Nigerian’s liberty, the court has the power to deprive a person of their freedom on health grounds. The case is ongoing, and Uja remains in police custody.
