In the aftermath of a political crisis in Ondo State, President Bola Tinubu has purportedly instructed the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to sign and submit an undated resignation letter.

This revelation was made by the Ondo Speaker, Rt. Hon Olamide Oladiji, during Tuesday’s plenary while presenting the resolutions from the Abuja meeting called by President Tinubu to address the political turmoil.

According to Oladiji, Aiyedatiwa’s resignation was part of the resolutions agreed upon during the peace meeting brokered by Tinubu.

The Ondo APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Catharin Oladunni Odu, and Oladiji himself were appointed to oversee compliance with the resolution.

While cautioning politicians against exacerbating tensions for personal interests, Oladiji emphasized that the Assembly would employ the full weight of the law to call them to order if necessary.

He stated, “Our actions or inactions were governed, guided and directed by the rules of law even though futile attempts were made to blackmail and throw a spanner in our wheel as a body of lawmakers. We just witnessed democracy at play, providing an avenue for assessment and reassessment.”

In addition, Oladiji addressed the ratification of the appointments of chairmen and caretaker committee members for the newly created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and the existing eighteen Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state. The ratification process, including a public hearing, was conducted to ensure legal credibility for the creation of the LCDAs.
