The plateau house of assembly has been placed under lock and the IGP has appointed a new Police Commissioner for the Rivers State Police.
Recall that, crisis hit the plateau house of the assembly after a movement for Impeachment was made, to impeach Alok Ayuba, the 34-year-old speaker of the house. A vote was cast and unfortunately, 8 voted to impeach him and 16 supported him.
Ayok and his loyal supporters held a meeting outside the Assembly complex, and proved that he was still the authentic speaker, due to the low amount of votes, he gained access to his maze, and office and he suspended all the 8 that moved to impeach him.
According to news sources, The plateau house of assembly has been placed under lock and the IGP also ordered that a new Police Commissioner should take over the Rivers State Police, after an alleged redeployment of Edward Egbuka, the incumbent River State Police Commissioner, to the National Headquarters.
Usman Baba Alkali, the Nigeria Inspector General of Police (IGP), immediately ordered that Mr. Barthlmew Nnamdi should take over as the Commissioner of Police for River Command with immediate effect.
