Obi’s Response Over Death Of People Who Wanted To Buy Rice Sparks Public Reactions


There have been several reactions from social media users after the former governor of Anambra state and Labour Party LP, Presidential Candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Gregory Obi stated that he cried after hearing about the death of some Nigerians who wanted to buy rice in Lagos.

According to THE CABLE, no fewer than seven people died during the distribution of seized bags of rice by the Nigerian Customs Service in Lagos. It was reported that during the exercise, a stampede occurred, and seven people reportedly died while many others were injured.

However, Peter Obi has now stated that he cried after he heard about the death of the people.

He made the revelation while speaking on the topic “Redefining Our Options & Consolidating Our Legacies” at an an event that was organized by All Conveners Support Groups for Good Governance in Abuja on Sunday.

One of the Labour Party LP, chieftains, Oseloka H. Obaze who also attended the event quoted Peter Obi as saying, “Nigerians died trying to buy rice; I cried!”.
