Aguluzigbo in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State witnessed a fierce gun battle between unknown gunmen and security operatives, resulting in multiple casualties.
The confrontation, which commenced early on Tuesday, extended for several hours until reinforced security forces arrived to counter the attack.
Though an official casualty count is pending, a circulating video online depicts lifeless bodies of several security operatives at the scene.
The footage also captures an unconscious officer, indicating severe injuries sustained during the exchange of gunfire.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident but refrained from providing specific casualty figures, citing ongoing verification efforts.
He stated, “I’m aware of the incident, but yet to confirm the casualty figure. Police operatives resisted the attack and are on the ground to restore calm and normalcy to the area.”
