Dr Michael Olawale – Cole, who is the president, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry reiterated on the need for both the neighboring country of Nigeria and Ghana to take advantage of the opportunities that comes from the African Continental Free Trade Area upon its implementation.
Dr. Olawale revealed this at the Ghana-Nigeria Business Council CEO Forum and said, for over five decades, Nigeria and Ghana has brewed a bilateral relationship in accordance with the mutual interest of the both countries for the development and attainment of their economic goals and establishes economic prosperity for the West African region.
He also gave review on how the economic relationship between the prominent countries in West Africa has transformed from merchandise trade to international trade in goods and services.
Olawale revealed that Nigeria sit at second in terms of largest business portfolio in Ghana bettered by china in the country.
Despite this cordial relationship shared by the both country, the President highlighted that, at some point, the relationship is hampered by some hiccup as a result of trade attack, high tariffs, border closure and unfriendly business environment which had made a negative impact to the trade and business of the both countries.
Conclusively, the President give reason on why the chamber of commerce and the business council should work in handy that the healthy relationship between this two bodies shall boost trade between the both countries and even beyond.
