David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, a Nigerian top artist, has donated all of the birthday gifts he received to charity.
The music star said the total amount of the donation is N200,000,000. In a press statement posted on his verified Instagram account on Saturday, he said the total amount of the donation is N200,000,000.
He gave a personal donation of N50,000,000, bringing the total to N250,000,000, and stated that the money would be distributed to orphans across Nigeria.
The singer formed a five-person disbursement committee, consisting of three professors and one pastor, to oversee the distribution.
Davido stated that his objective is to make the donation a yearly habit in honor of his birthday and to help people who are less fortunate.
In a video posted to his Instagram page, he thanked everyone who contributed to the cause and explained how the contribution came about as a result of an accidental conversion.
He urged his followers and friends to keep supporting him in his endeavor to give back to society.
On Wednesday, Davido took to Instagram to ask his fans to come out in support of his 29th birthday, which is coming up on November 21.
The musician challenged his friends and followers to send him N1 million, claiming that he has always been in a position to help people and now he wanted them to do the same for him.
The pop musician got N7 million in the first 10 minutes after declaring the challenge on his Instagram stories, and went on to state that the objective was N100 million.
