We are in the month of celebration and many across the world celebrate Christmas in so may ways.

But did you also know that there are countries in the world where Christmas is not celebrated because of one reason or another. Here is the list of countries in the world where Christmas is banned;

1. North Korea

In North Korea, it’s illegal to be a Christian and that is why it’s illegal to even celebrate every religious activity associated with Christianity. As a result, Christmas celebration being on of the religious activities is totally uncalled for unless the individuals decide to do it secretly.

2. Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia, Christian gatherings are totally not allowed. Since Christians often meet on Christmas day, it makes it very difficult for any of them to celebrate the day. They are allowed to celebrate it privately but still faced with opposition that makes even the private celebrations difficult for Christians. Saudi Arabia is led by the crown prince Salman.

3. Somalia

Being a totally Islamic nation and after the adoption of Sharia laws as part of their laws, celebration of Christmas became totally illegal. Christmas was banned back in 2015 which marked 6 years after the country started using Sharia laws. To enforce this law, the government often reminds the citizens through a special announced that it’s illegal to celebrate Christmas.

4. Tajikistan

A decree back in 2015 banned any display of Christmas celebration anywhere. Even the use of fireworks, use of any festive meals, use of Christmas trees and giving of gifts became totally illegal. Celebration of Christmas was totally outlawed in Tajikistan.

5. Brunei

Brunei has one of the most stringent laws when it comes to Christmas celebration. When caught celebrating Christmas illegally, you will have to pay a hefty fine of $ 20,000 or be imprisoned for period of 5 years.
