According to the group, Tinubu is selfish and unworthy of the presidency for taking such a position.
The Ecumenical Youth Association (EYA) has criticized Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, for suggesting a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election.

According to the group, Tinubu is selfish and unworthy of the presidency for taking such a position.

Tinubu is currently in London.

Tinubu reportedly said at a recent meeting with some Northern elders in Abuja arranged by his longtime friend, Senator Abu Ibrahim, that if he is chosen by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s candidate in the 2023 elections, they should leave the task of persuading Yoruba people to him.

His viewpoint was said to be that the South-West area would not object if he chose a Muslim as his running partner.

The topic of who would be his running companion became a point of controversy at the meeting, with the elders telling him they would not accept a Christian Northerner as his running mate.

Tinubu also pledged to nominate a Muslim politician from the North-West.

According to reports, a senior politician and former governor questioned Tinubu how that would be received in the South, and Tinubu informed his guests that the South-East and South-South, which are mostly Christian, would not be affected, and that the South-West may, but he would handle it.

However, EYA President Daboikiabo Warmate stated that Tinubu had shown insensitivity and political greed by making such a comment.

“, he explained “We absolutely reject the callous and greedy statement made by a Muslim-Muslim Presidential/Vice Presidential Ticket credited to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State.

“It’s both provocative and regrettable that Alhaji Tinubu will insult Yoruba Christians’ sensibilities in the same way that Northern political leaders insulted Northern Christians’ sensibilities.

“This is provocative and demeaning to all Christians in Nigeria, not just Northern and Yoruba Christians.

“This further proves that Tinubu is unworthy of the Nigerian presidency. A someone with enough ambition to subjugate Nigeria’s over 100 million Christians could perhaps mortgage the country one day.

“We’re currently discussing how Christians have become an endangered species, and how much more likely it is that under such a person’s presidency, we’ll all be extinct.

“We feel obligated to trust everything told about him, especially by his relatives. We’ll launch a campaign soon called “Tinubu Presidency, a Threat to the Existence of Christians in Nigeria,” based on his statement.

“We want to take this opportunity to encourage and call on all Christian politicians with the necessary capacity to save our beloved country from impending collapse to run for President in both major political parties in 2023, and we will mobilize and campaign for such a person because it is our turn.”
