Veteran Nigerian Actress Is Dead After Battle With Cancer

Renowned Nigerian actress Ethel Ekpe, also known as Ethel Aderemi, has sadly succumbed to cancer in Lagos.

The news was confirmed by Dr. Shaibu Husseini, the Director General of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), in a heartfelt Facebook post on Wednesday night.

Ekpe, who gained fame for her unforgettable portrayal of Segi in the beloved sitcom ‘Basi and Company’ on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), leaves behind a legacy of exceptional talent and artistry.

In addition to her acting career, she later devoted herself to the ministry as a Pastor.Dr. Husseini expressed his deep sorrow at the loss, emphasizing the impact Ekpe had on both the entertainment industry and her personal life.

He shared, “The actress and later day Pastor will be sorely missed. My family will particularly miss her because we named my second daughter Ethel, after her. Good night good woman.”
