Adamu Garba, a former Presidential candidate, took to his official Facebook page to express his joy on the lifting of the Nigerian government’s Twitter ban. Adamu Garba is one of the people who backed the move to shut down Twitter in Nigeria because he thought removing President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet was insulting.
The suspension of Twitter’s operations in Nigeria elicited conflicting reactions online; although some individuals believed the Nigerian government did so to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, others believed it was a step too far.
In his tweet, Adamu Garba, on the other hand, praised the Nigerian government for sticking to its own on the prohibition. The lifting of the prohibition on Twitter’s operation, he believed, was a victory for Nigeria.
“Twitter ban is lifted. I can’t wait for my first tweet. We’ve won Jobs, Tax and International office for Nigeria. This is what we gain when we stay firm and do the right thing. Alhamdulillah.”
