The Judge Stopped EFCC From Prosecuting Somebody Who Got His Money From Kidnap And Ransom – Amachree

Dennis Amachree, the former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), has unveiled a significant impediment hindering the DSS’s pursuit of stolen funds, some of which contribute to financing terrorism in Nigeria. Amachree’s revelations, shared during an interview with a journalist on News Central Television, stressed the challenges posed by Nigerian prince courts in national security efforts. These courts, notorious for involvement in various financial scams, present a formidable obstacle for law enforcement agencies working to curtail illicit financial activities and disrupt terrorist financing networks within Nigeria.

The interview highlighted a statement from the EFCC boss, Olukoyede, who expressed his dilemma in tracing stolen funds to a religious body. The religious body swiftly obtained a court injunction, preventing the EFCC from prosecuting and arresting its members.

The former DSS Director emphasized the role of the judiciary, stating that a judge from the third arm of the government, an officer of the judiciary, intervened by issuing an order that restrained the EFCC from pursuing legal action against individuals associated with either kidnap and ransom or terrorist funding.

He said, “He (the EFCC boss, Olukoyede) has already said it himself. He said how can he go to trace stolen funds to a religious body, and the religious body quickly ran to the court and got an injunction to stop him from prosecuting and arresting them. The judge who is from the third arm of government, an officer of the judiciary stopped the EFCC from prosecuting somebody who either got his money from kidnap and ransom or terrorist funding.”
