Popular Islamic cleric Sheikh Gumi has revealed how bandits kidnapped his Brother and released him.
The retired Army and the medical doctor has been a name to reckon with in Nigerian when issues of banditry are being discussed.
He has on several occasions acted as a mediator between the federal government and bandits, fighting for the safety and rights of the bandits.
When a Federal High court in Abuja declared bandits as terrorists in Nigeria, he quickly refuted and asked to appeal the decision.
However, during an interview, Sheikh Gumi revealed how bandits kidnapped his Brother and how he was released.
The cleric stated that people calling for his arrest were unaware of the acts and capabilities of the bandits.
“When my brother was kidnapped on our way to a village, we had to pay a large amount of ransom to secure his release, payment of ransom should be made to secure the release of our young ones.”
