Shan George Discloses Those Behind Unprofessionalism In Nollywood

Nollywood veteran, Shan George, has voiced her concerns over the growing lack of professionalism in the industry, attributing it to individuals who lack the necessary education and training for the job.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, the actress highlighted that the influx of individuals unfamiliar with the rules and principles of the movie industry is responsible for the rising unprofessionalism. She expressed that this issue is not exclusive to Nollywood but is becoming increasingly prevalent in various entertainment sectors.

George said, “The bad eggs, who are not well educated and trained enough for the job to know the rules and tenets of the profession, are the ones responsible (for unprofessionalism). The sad part is that such display of unprofessionalism is currently increasing by the day in all industries.”

Reflecting on her own background, having graduated in Mass Communication, George asserted that her education has significantly contributed to her acting career, especially in areas like screenwriting and presenting.

She recounted her unexpected entry into Nollywood in 1996 during an audition for the movie “Thorns of Rose,” produced by Emeka Osai. George’s journey has flourished since then, with her roles extending to the nationwide NTA soap opera, “Winds of Destiny,” directed by Sadiq Daba.
