The PDP G5 governors as they are being called consists of Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Governor of Enugu state, Okezie Ikpeazu, the Governor of Abia state, and Samuel Ortom, the Governor of Benue state have all pulled out their support from the Atiku/Okowa campaign in an indefinite action. And it’s more personal on the side of Governor Samuel Ortom who believes that Atiku is defending the Fulani terrorists that are killing his people in Benue State. He stated clearly that he will never support a Fulani man to be President.
Popular Arise Tv Journalist, Rufai Oseni has reacted to the new move being made by the G5 governors as he analyzed that this is a game of politics that has been seen several times in Nigeria. He said, ”At a time where the PDP struggled to win in 2019 and they didn’t win than when they had their house put together. At a time like this, they feel this could have been a good chance for them but their party is divided. And what their party is divided on is based on the principle ground.
One thing is certain that Atiku Abubakar has to put this behind him and he has to face an election. And the governors have decided that they will not support him. But this is not the first time this is happening in Nigeria politics, it happened in the 80s and even in the 2011 election, Bola Ahmed Tinubu did a deal with the PDP at the last minute, Lagos shifted for the PDP Presidential election and governorship election went to the ACN. We have seen this happen before and this is not going to be any different.”
