The Abia State Police Command confirmed a disturbing incident where Chinalu Ogbonna, a 27-year-old residing in Umuahia, Abia State, allegedly murdered his father, Mmaduka Ogbonna, for ritual purposes.
The gruesome act involved strangling his 57-year-old father to death and gouging out his left eye with the intention of using it for money rituals. The crime took place at their residence on Umueze Road.
Upon receiving the report at the Central Police Station on Monday morning, detectives visited the scene and discovered the lifeless body of the victim with his left eye removed.
Chinalu Ogbonna was promptly arrested by the police. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is in custody awaiting legal proceedings.
The Police Public Relations Officer stated that the case is under thorough investigation and will be brought before the court for prosecution. The deceased’s body has been taken to the morgue for autopsy, and relevant evidence has been collected as part of the investigation process.
