In a horrifying attack on the Ruwandoruwa community in Zamfara state, armed bandits targeted the Maru Police Division, resulting in the tragic death of a mobile policeman and the abduction of 15 individuals, including the wife of the district head.
The assailants struck around 12:30 am on Sunday, unleashing indiscriminate gunfire upon the community. Abdullahi Ruwandoruwa, a resident, confirmed the incident, stating that the bandits, while attempting to kidnap the district head, fatally shot a mobile policeman in front of the district head’s residence.
“They did not meet the district head at home, but they found his wife and took her away,” Ruwandoruwa reported.
Despite the violent encounter, the bandits have not made any ransom demands for the abducted individuals as of now. The lack of communication from the bandits leaves the community in distress and uncertainty about the fate of those taken.
Efforts to obtain official comments from the police authorities in the state have been hampered, as the police spokesperson, ASP Yazid Abubakar, remains unreachable.
