Peter Obi Reveals Where A Bankrupt Nation Should Channel Available Resource

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, criticizes the current administration’s claim of inheriting a bankrupt nation, urging responsible governance and transparent financial disclosure. Speaking in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Obi revealed the need for efficient resource allocation, directing funds towards critical development sectors rather than unnecessary expenditures.

Obi asserts, “If you do not have enough money, you can’t be flying about, going to eat buffet. You cut your coat according to your cloth. That is what Nigeria needs to do.” He challenges the government to prioritize transparency and accountability in disclosing the degree of deficit inherited.

The former Anambra State governor questions the rationale behind some expenditure items in the recently signed supplementary budget, emphasizing that a bankrupt country should focus resources on security, healthcare, education, and poverty eradication.

In a previous tweet, Obi criticized the government’s lack of improvement in key development indices during its tenure, highlighting the escalating debt profile without corresponding advancements in education, health, poverty eradication, and security.

Obi concludes, “What we expect are measurable and verifiable steps to improve the situation,” emphasizing the urgent need to dismantle high-cost governance and address the critical issues facing the nation.
