Osun School Meal Poisons 18 Pupils – Govt Adeleke Takes Urgent Action

Governor Ademola Adeleke has launched an investigation following reports that eighteen pupils fell ill after consuming food from the government-sponsored O-Meal school feeding program. The Osun Commissioner for Information, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, confirmed the incident, stating that the governor expressed displeasure and has ordered a thorough inquiry.

Governor Adeleke, informed of the situation by his Special Adviser on O-Meal, Grace Oluwaseyi Ayodele, directed an immediate halt to food preparation at the affected school pending the conclusion of investigations. Nathaniel Ojetola, Chairman of the Local Government Education Authority, revealed that the affected pupils received medical attention and were subsequently discharged.

A scheduled meeting on Tuesday will involve the summoned cooks from the affected schools and the O-Meal program’s Planning officer. The governor emphasized the enforcement of food standards, audit of the O-Meal structure, and settling the medical bills of the affected pupils. Additionally, a government delegation is set to visit the families of the affected students.
