NPF Trains Election Security for Off-Season Polls

IGP Egbetokun is telling officers to be professional and fair during elections.Before the governor elections on November 11, 2023, in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, the Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has given permission for a two-day training program for the police officers who will be working during the elections. This training program is made to help them get better at keeping peace, order, and security during elections.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, said that there will be a training program in Bayelsa State on October 25th to 26th, 2023, in Kogi State from October 27th to 28th, 2023, and in Imo State from October 25th to 26th, 2023.

The main goal of this training is to give our police officers the knowledge and skills they need to make sure elections are peaceful and safe. The IGP has made it very clear that it’s really important to be professional and fair. They want to follow the rules and guidelines for elections very carefully.

The Nigerian Police Force will work closely with other security agencies, electoral stakeholders, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to keep voters, electoral officials, candidates, and the public safe during the off-season elections. The IGP wants political parties and candidates to do their campaigns and activities in a peaceful way, following the rules of democracy and the law.

The Police Chief said that the Police will continue to work hard to keep the people in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States safe during the elections. They want to make sure everyone can vote and that the elections go well.

He asked everyone who lives here and people involved in the election to work together with the police and other law enforcement officers. This will help make sure the election is peaceful and fair.
