President Muhammadu Buhari said nobody will deny any opposition party its mandate if it wins the 2023 presidential election.
The president said this as he attended the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign for the 2023 election.
At the campaign venue in Jos, the capital city of Plateau State, Buhari presented the APC flag to the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.
Buhari urged party members to work for the victory of the presidential candidate in the upcoming election.
However, the president had earlier paid a visit to the palace of the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, where he reiterated that every vote will count in 2023.
Buhari said he is committed to ensuring that the country has a free and fair election in 2023 and a smooth handover.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, quoted Buhari as saying, “No election winner will be denied his mandate, irrespective of the party to which they belonged.”
The president said, “Nobody will deny opposition party its mandate if it wins.”
The president also reiterated that he will be at the forefront of the APC presidential campaign for the 2023 election.
