Netanyahu Vows To Continue War Until Hamas Is Eliminated Despite Hostages’ Release

In a resolute declaration, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asserted that the ongoing war against Hamas will persist until the complete destruction of the militant group and the liberation of all Israeli hostages. Netanyahu made this statement in a video message ahead of a cabinet meeting to discuss a potential deal for the release of some hostages held by Hamas since its attacks on Israeli border communities on October 7.

Netanyahu dismissed any notion that Israel’s military campaign would cease upon the return of hostages, emphasizing their release as a “sacred and top goal.” He outlined the broader mission, stating, “We will not stop until we have total victory, until we return all of them. That’s the holy duty of all of us.”

He also articulated a strategic objective beyond the hostages’ release, emphasizing the goal to eliminate Hamas entirely and secure Gaza in a way that poses no threat to Israel. Netanyahu underscored the phased nature of both the war and the hostage release process.

“In war there are phases, and in returning the hostages, there are phases, but we will not stop until we have total victory, until we return all of them,” Netanyahu declared.

The conflict has taken a toll, with more than 1,400 Israelis killed and approximately 240 taken hostage by Hamas during its assault on Israel. Among the hostages are vulnerable demographics, including children, women, the elderly, and the disabled. Hamas has exploited the situation, releasing videos featuring hostages pleading for their freedom and urging Netanyahu to negotiate with the militant group.

Israel’s response has involved air strikes on Gaza, targeting Hamas infrastructure and fighters, along with ground operations aimed at rescuing hostages.
