Mohbad: Police Reveals Why Father Of The Late Singer Refused To Pick Son’s Corpse From Mortuary

The Lagos State Police has disclosed that Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has been notified to apply for the release of his son’s corpse from the mortuary.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, and after a controversial burial on September 13, an autopsy was requested, leading to the exhumation of his body on September 21.

Despite two months passing since the autopsy, the results are yet to be made public. Mohbad’s mother released a video on Tuesday, November 21, stating that the singer’s body had been released to the father, but he has refused to allow it to be reburied.

A police source, speaking anonymously to LIB, confirmed that the Lagos State Police Command concluded the autopsy and informed Mohbad’s father that he could collect his son’s corpse for burial. However, the father is reportedly demanding a DNA test before proceeding, making it a family matter.

“The body is in the morgue. It has not been released. It wouldn’t be released to you, and you wouldn’t come and pick it. The hospital wouldn’t allow it. Only the father can apply for the release of the corpse, only the father, and the police have said any day he applies, he would get it immediately. We have told them, anytime they want it, just write an application, but the father has refused to do that. Technically, it is the father that is holding back. The father has said he is not taking it yet until they do DNA, and that is their personal family problem. If the man writes today, of course, it will be released, and he must carry the corpse. You can’t write and keep it there. For who?” the police source stated.

Joseph Aloba has consistently insisted on a DNA test to determine the paternity of Liam, the seven-month-old son of the late Mohbad and his wife, Wunmi.
