Isiak Salako was born on July 23, 1959, to Alhaji and Alhaja Ibathllahi Lawal Salako in Oke Oyinbo Quarters, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. He attended Ansar-ud-deen Practicing School in Ota from 1968 to 1973, followed by Ansar-ud-deen Secondary Modern School in Ota from 1973 to 1975. He then continued his education at Ansar-ud-deen College Offa from 1975 to 1977.

Education and Career

Salako pursued his higher education at the former Kwara State College of Technology in Ilorin from 1979 to 1981. He obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Ibadan in 1986. After completing his medical degree, Salako worked as a house physician for the Lagos State Health Management Board at various hospitals, including Island Maternity Hospital, Mercy Street Hospital, and Lagos Island General Hospital.

Salako also fulfilled the one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) requirement in Imo State’s Isiala-ngwa Local Government Area. In April 1990, he joined the University College Hospital (UCH) to complete his residency study in the Department of Medicine and obtain his Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians. He was subsequently appointed as a lecturer and consultant nephrologist in the Department. Salako’s expertise lies in the field of kidney disease and hypertension, where he has made significant contributions.

In 2004, he received the Alexander Brown Hall of the University of Ibadan students’ Brownite of Honor award.
