INEC Responds to Imo Labour Party’s Claim of Refusal to Issue Certified True Copies of Election Materials

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has addressed the recent accusation by the Labour Party in Imo State, asserting that the electoral body refused to provide certified true copies (CTC) of materials used in the concluded Governorship election in the state.

In response, INEC clarified that it had received the application for certification from the Labour Party and actively corresponded with them. The commission informed the party that its legal department would assess the cost of certifying the requested 33 items. INEC emphasized its commitment to assembling the necessary documents for cost evaluation, facilitating a smooth process for payment.

The official statement from INEC, posted on X, read: “INEC acknowledges the receipt of the application for the certification of documents from the LP, and had held active correspondence with them, informing them that the legal department would estimate the cost of the certification of all 33 items they requested for. The Commission is assembling all the needed documents to assess the cost so that payment could be made.”
