Ikenga Ugochinyere Demands Immediate Release Of Eze Igbo As He Tackles DSS

Ikenga Ugochinyere, the House of Representatives member-elect for Ideato North/South federal constituency of Imo State, has called for the immediate release of Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, Lagos, Fredrick Nwajagu. In a statement, Ugochinyere accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of being unfair in the discharge of its duties and demanded the release of Nwajagu, who was arrested over a viral video that showed him inviting members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to Lagos to protect the Igbos from alleged targeted attacks.

Ugochinyere wondered where the security agencies were when some notable All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters made “inciting comments” against the Igbos. He recalled the intimidation and ‘violent attacks’ suffered by persons of Igbo extraction who are residing in Lagos State before and during elections. He questioned whether the DSS and Police agencies were for the protection of lives and properties of the people of Nigeria or only serving the interest of the ruling government.

Ugochinyere accused the APC spokesman Bayo Onanuga of making threats against the Igbos and describing them as a threat to the Yorubas, yet he hasn’t been arrested. Musiliu ‘MC Oluomo’ Akinsanya, who threatened that “Igbos who will not vote for the APC in the governorship election should stay at home,” also has not been arrested. Ugochinyere called on the DSS to release Nwajagu and arrest Lagos election violence promoters.
