The Department of State Services (DSS) and the police have arrested the Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, Nwajagu, for his alleged plan to invite members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to Lagos to secure properties of Igbo people in the state.

The arrest was made in the early hours of Saturday after the team stormed his palace. However, he fled and was later traced to a hotel in Ejigbo where he was arrested at 1:00 am.

Nwajagu’s arrest has been seen as a move to foil IPOB’s plan to invade Lagos, which he had threatened to facilitate.

In a 49-second video shared on Twitter on Friday, the Igbo leader had vowed to invite members of the IPOB to Lagos to protect the shops of Igbo people in the state.

He insisted that his people must take a stand in Lagos and that they must have their own security to stop attacks on them. The DSS and police’s swift action has been commended as it has prevented the IPOB’s plan to invade Lagos.
