The Daily Trust newspaper reports that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said he is ready to debate from morning till night.
The former Governor of Lagos State has come under heavy criticism for his refusal to honour invitations to presidential debates and interactive sessions attended by other presidential candidates. The situation has further raised doubts about his competence with many Nigerians suggesting that he is staying away to avoid being exposed. Others have said that attitude is that of disdain and disregard for the same citizens he aspires to lead.
But speaking to some Nigerians in London, Tinubu said attending debates was not an issue.
“I am ready to debate with you from morning till night… and I’m speaking in London, not in Jigawa. It is great that you are alive to tell the story just giving the assurance never to give up… Broadband creation, the energy that you talked about.. if they’ve taken our advice.. at the beginning of democracy in 1999, we brought in investment. My Deputy then is here.. and then so many other innovative things….”
