How People Deal With Humble Artiste – Asake

Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, widely known as Asake, delves into the dynamics of how humility is perceived in the entertainment industry.

Asake, in a recent video circulating online, shared insights into his experiences dealing with humility as an artist. Contrary to the conventional notion that humility is a virtue, Asake asserted that people often fail to appreciate it.

The singer recounted instances where his humility led to being taken for granted. Drawing from personal encounters, he explained that in the competitive realm of entertainment, being overly humble might result in being undervalued.

“To me, humility is like a waste of time. People don’t appreciate it. At the end of the day, life is about your perception. That is how I think. It’s my world,” Asake expressed.

He pointed out the paradox where, as an artist, projecting a certain level of ego can make one appear less accessible, leading to increased appreciation. Asake emphasized the importance of actions over outward displays of humility, suggesting that people are more inclined to value an artist based on their work rather than perceived modesty.

“As an artiste, if you come to somewhere, if you’re humble, they will take you for granted. But if you have ego, they feel like you’re not accessible so they will like you more. People would rather see what you’re doing than you showing them humility. So, just do what you need to do,” Asake concluded.
