Early Life and Education

Heineken Lokpobiri was born on March 3, 1967. He obtained his LL.B (Hons) degree in 1994 from Rivers State University of Science and Technology in Port Harcourt. Following his law degree, he completed his BL (Barrister at Law) in February 1995. Lokpobiri’s expertise lies in Environmental Rights and Environmental Law, and he furthered his education by obtaining a Ph.D. from Leeds Beckett University in the UK in 2015.

Political Career

Lokpobiri’s political career began in 1999 when he became a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly. He served in this capacity until 2003 and was elected as the speaker of the house from June 1999 to May 2001. Lokpobiri’s leadership skills and dedication to public service were evident during his time in the state assembly.

In 2007, Lokpobiri successfully ran for the Nigerian Senate, representing the Bayelsa West constituency.
