In the early hours of November 22, gunmen targeted the Adamawa State Police headquarters situated in the heart of Jimeta community, Yola North Local Government Area. Residents near the police headquarters sought help on social media during the attack.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, assuring that the situation was under control. Nguroje stated that the attack had been repelled, but the identities of the assailants remained unknown.
While the motive behind the attack is yet to be established, one unverified source suggested that the gunmen might be military personnel seeking revenge for the alleged killing of one of their own by the police. However, this claim is yet to be independently verified.
