From DSS Custody, Nnamdi Kanu Issues Fresh Directive To IPOB Ahead Of Possible Release

Amidst speculations surrounding the possible release of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, from the Department of State Services (DSS) custody, he has issued a fresh directive to members of the separatist group.

Kanu, currently detained by the DSS, instructed his followers to stay steadfast in their cause. This directive was conveyed through his special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, who shared the update on his X handle.

Ejimakor, following his routine meeting with Kanu, posted on Thursday, “MNK greets the faithful and loyal and directs that all should stay put and stay the course. He’s proud of those that have impacted positively and brought sanity to bear.”

Meanwhile, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, in response to the developments, has asserted that Nnamdi Kanu’s potential release could reshape the political landscape in the Southeast.

The socio-cultural group emphasized that such an event would likely diminish the influence of self-acclaimed Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa and the Labour Party presidential candidate in the last election, Peter Obi.

In a statement, Ohanaeze urged President Bola Tinubu to remain resolute in his decision-making process regarding Kanu’s release and cautioned against undue credit-taking by certain Igbo political elites.

The statement reads, “We emphasize that the effects of Nnamdi Kanu’s release will gradually diminish the rising popularity of both Peter Obi and Simon Ekpa in the Southeast.”
