A federal High court in Abuja has sentenced, Abdulrashed Maina, a Former pension chairman to 61 Years Imprisonment over alleged embezzlement of 2 billion, embezzlement, and fraud.

The case started over a year ago when the Economic Financial Crimes Commission arrested Maina after he was reported for embezzling pensioner’s money that was supposed to be disbursed to the retired civil servants.

EFCC concluded their investigation and filed a suit against Maina after they produced different pieces of evidence that proved Maina guilty.

Maina opened a United Bank Of Africa and Fidelity bank account, concealed his identity by using fake identities of his close friends and members without consent. Cash of N300 million, N500 million, and N1.5 billion were deposited in both accounts.

Justice Okon Abang, the presiding judge of the Federal High court sentenced the former Pension Chairman to 61 Years Imprisonment after he found Maina guilty of stealing N2 billion meant for pensioners; which resulted in the death of most of the pensioners and also laundered about over N160,099,000.
