The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has cleared the air on how the childhood picture of former Governor Donald Duke got passed off as that of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Director Media and Publicity explains that “it is an unintentional mix up and error”.

“No one and not even Asiwaju’s personal photographers and the artists who designed the materials, have been able to explain how the photo was mixed up with the other photo, that represents Asíwájú’s teenage years. They all said they got both photographs in Google search” the statement explained.

The campaign council has reportedly reached out to the former governor to apologise over the development.

“The usage was a honest mistake for which all involved have accepted responsibility. We want to make it abundantly clear that Asíwájú Tinubu did not authorize the appropriation of another person’s image as his own.” the statement provided further insight.

The campaign council’s statement signed by Onanuga categorically absolve the Presidential Council of any blame.

“We are in a campaign season where many supporters go out of their ways to produce jingles, documentaries, posters, billboard materials and other promotional materials without the approval of candidates across political parties.” the stament pointed out while disclosing effort put in place to prevent recurrence with the explanation that “the campaign council has in the meantime established a process for clearance and approval by individuals and support groups who seek to produce campaign materials for media use.

Donald Duke, the former Governor of Cross Rivers state returned to public consciousness recently with the assertion that the teenage year picture used for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2023 election is his.

Duke in a trending video insisted that, he took the picture which features in Tinubu’s campaign materials- off and online- as a 12year student of Federal Government Secondary school in Sokoto.

The APC presidential campaign’s clarifications address all reactions trailing Duke’s revelation.
