Bandits Kill Six, Abduct Ex-CBN Director And 50 Others In Fresh Attacks On Kaduna

Suspected terrorists have unleashed a brutal attack on Kwasam community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident, which occurred on Friday evening, has left at least six residents dead and over 50 others abducted, including a retired director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The attack began around 10 pm when the bandits, in large numbers, invaded the community, shooting indiscriminately and abducting two individuals who led them to the residence of the retired CBN director.

The bandits then proceeded to the family house, where they abducted the brother and his wife.

Six residents were killed on the spot, while six others sustained gunshot wounds. The deceased include Danmasani Gwaska, Mrs. Giwa John, Kapishi Barmu, Ganya Ubangida, Shigama Salisu, and Gani Magawata.

The abducted victims include Zakariya Markus (retired CBN director), Monday Markus (younger brother to the retired-CBN director), and his wife, Alhamdu Makeri’s son, and Baban Fati of Kauru, among others.

Josiah Abraks, spokesman for SOKAPU, condemned the attack, describing it as “despicable and condemnable.” He called on the state government and all relevant authorities to step up their efforts to ensure the safety and peace of all law-abiding citizens of the state.

The Kaduna State Government, through the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, also confirmed the attack.

Governor Uba Sani has condemned the attack and condoled with the victims while appealing for aggressive military operations against bandits across the state, following attacks in Igabi and Kauru LGAs.
