Former Vice President of Nigeria, Abubakar Atiku, is set to appear before a court over alleged issues of his Citizenship issue on February 21, 2022.

A case asking a High Court sitting in Abuja to stop Atiku from contesting any political positions in Nigeria was filed against him by a group called Incorporated Trustees of Egolitarian Mission for Africa.

The case has been ongoing since then; the group forwarded an application to stop Atiku from contesting in the 2019 presidential election because of issues surrounding his birth.

The group claimed that Atiku parents were not Nigerian, but foreigners who sought asylum in Nigeria.

However, Atiku will appear before Justice Inyng Ekwo of Abuja Federal High Court to defend the alleged citizenship issue suit filed by Incorporated Trustees of Egalitarian Mission for Africa.

There are speculations that the suit may be targeted to hinder the Former vice president from contesting in the upcoming 2023 presidential election.
