In a recent interview, Kenneth Okonkwo, a prominent member of the Obidients Movement, responded to criticisms from Nigerian literary icon Wole Soyinka. Soyinka had condemned the movement, which aims to fight corruption and impunity in Nigeria, as well as its supporters, calling them misguided and lacking in critical thinking.
In his response, Okonkwo called out Soyinka for his comments, stating that “a cultist has no moral right to condemn the Obidients Movement.” He went on to argue that the movement represents hope for Nigeria, and that its members are committed to making positive changes in the country.
He said, ” I am so very proud to be an Obidient fighting for a new Nigeria and a cultist who is part of a self confessed wasted generation has no moral right to condemn a divine movement fighting for the destruction of the structure of criminality, corruption and impunity of that generation.”
