Wike Urges Imams: Protect Nigeria, Don’t Be Used by Desperate Politicians

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned Islamic leaders about being manipulated by politicians who are desperate to cause trouble in Nigeria.

Wike promised to make sure that everyone receives fair treatment while he is the minister. He emphasized that he would not discriminate against any religion.

He talked when he met with the Committee of FCT Imams Initiative led by Dr Tajudeen Adigun on Wednesday.

Wike promised to advance the federal capital in accordance with President Bola Tinubu’s instructions.

According to Wike: “I will make sure that fairness is always upheld for everyone.” As a government, we can’t do everything by ourselves. We need to work together with everyone involved. It is crucial for us to make progress with FCT.

As you mentioned, we have various individuals in the FCT, and it is our duty to create a comfortable setting for everyone. We didn’t come here with any intention of targeting any religion or anyone. The President’s job is to make sure Abuja achieves the goals of its founders.

As religious leaders, it’s important to be cautious. Don’t let politicians, desperate individuals, or those who believe Nigeria will fail without them in charge, manipulate or misrepresent information.

If there’s anything you don’t understand, don’t be afraid to ask. What did you hear and what’s your opinion? If you believe and support the messages spread by political leaders, you are not truly benefiting yourself in any significant way.

Politics is finished. Do not let those who want to spread propaganda divide the nation. People who did not win in politics. They are going against peace, but we all want peace. If there is no peace, we won’t be able to visit mosques or churches. A new president has come into power. Now it’s up to you religious leaders to pray for God’s guidance on him to succeed. If he fails, it will impact all of us.
