Wike Fires Back At FCT Senator Over Comment On National TV

Governor Nyesom Wike has strongly rebuked Senator Ireti Kingibe over her comments on national TV regarding the botched $470 million FCT CCTV contract. Contrary to Senator Kingibe’s assertion, Wike clarified that the contract was initiated by the police, not the FCT.

In a recent YouTube interview shared by AIT, Wike challenged Senator Kingibe to provide evidence of any FCT-awarded contract for CCTV cameras, emphasizing that her statements lacked factual basis. The Governor criticized the Senator for making unfounded claims on a national platform, highlighting that holding a position as an FCT Senator doesn’t grant the liberty to disseminate inaccurate information.

Wike stated, “That was a police project, it is not an FCT project. She does not have information; it is not just coming out on national TV and beginning to say what you don’t have facts on. Let her show you the contract that was awarded through FCT for the provision of CCTV cameras. It is not correct. Being an FCT Senator does not give you the opportunity to go on national TV and say whatever you want.”
