Uba Maigari Ahmadu was born in Donga Constituency on August 13th, 1943. He is a remarkable leader who has demonstrated a fusion of law, business acumen, and political fervor. Hailing from Wukari local government in Taraba state, his journey is a testament to resilience, determination, consistency, dedication, and hard work.

Uba Maigari Ahmadu Educational Journey

Maigari’s educational odyssey began in 1973 when he enrolled in the esteemed township Primary School in Jos. Later, he transferred to Dauda Kwancha Primary School in Donga where he completed his foundational education in 1978. Continuing his academic pursuit, he attended Government Secondary School (GSS) in Donga from 1978 to 1980. Due to the conversion of the school to a science-focused institution, he was transferred to Mbiya Secondary School in Takum LGA, where he obtained his SSCE certificate in 1983. Maigari’s thirst for knowledge led him to the University of Maiduguri, where he studied Common law and graduated with second-class honors in 1988. He then attended the Nigerian Law School in Victoria Island and he was called to the Bar in 1990.

National Youth Service Corps and Multidisciplinary Approach

Maigari’s commitment to his country led him to undertake the rigorous National Youth Service Corps in Enugu State, where he served in the department of intelligence and interrogation in the Nigeria Police Force. These experiences laid the foundation for his multidisciplinary approach, preparing him for the multifaceted roles that lay ahead.

Uba Maigari Ahmadu’s Business Ventures and Political Career

Demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit, Maigari ventured into civil engineering, showcasing his dexterity in the field. He also entered the political arena, running for the chairmanship of Donga local government, which highlighted his dedication to community development and service to humanity, traits inherited from his late father. In 2001, he was appointed as the pioneer Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, further underscoring his commitment to governance and his ability to effect change.

Uba Maigari Ahmadu As Deputy Governor and Continued Political Pursuits

In 2003, Maigari’s political trajectory took a significant turn when he was chosen as the running mate for then-governor Nyame, serving as the deputy governor from 2003 to 2004. Despite not securing the mandate of his zone in subsequent senatorial elections, his quest for public service remained unwavering. He was later appointed as a board member of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) from 2012 to 2015.

Commitment to Party and Recent Nominations

Throughout his political career, Maigari has remained dedicated to his party, never rejecting the interests of the party and working towards peaceful coexistence within it. His commitment and selflessness are evident as he has not sought personal appointments but believes in God’s designated time for everything. In recognition of his contributions, he was nominated as a minister from Taraba, successfully undergoing the screening process. He now awaits confirmation by the Senate to represent Taraba at the federal executive council meeting.
