U.S Bids Farewell To President Buhari, Reaffirms Commitment To Partnership With Nigeria

The United States Mission in Nigeria has expressed its commitment to continue working towards a more peaceful and prosperous Nigeria. This was disclosed by the outgoing US Ambassador to Nigeria, Leonard, during a farewell visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja. The US has been a key partner to Nigeria in various sectors, including security, health, education, and economic development.

The US has played a significant role in supporting Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism, insurgency, and other security challenges. The US has provided training, equipment, and technical assistance to Nigerian security agencies to enhance their capacity to tackle security threats. The US has also supported Nigeria’s efforts to address health challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, through the provision of medical supplies and technical assistance.

In the education sector, the US has supported Nigeria’s efforts to improve access to quality education, especially for girls. The US has provided scholarships and other forms of support to Nigerian students to study in the US and other countries. The US has also supported Nigeria’s efforts to promote economic development through various initiatives, including the provision of technical assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises.
