The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has slammed Nigerian security forces for their activities in the southeast region.

The group accused a Joint Military Task Force in Anambra state of unethical conducts.

In a statement on Wednesday obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB who has the pseudonym, Emma Powerful, revealed the seccessionist movement’s displeasure.

“The Nigeria JTF has moved into Orsumoghu in Anambra State with their armed personnel carrier and over 10 Hilux pickups, shooting sporadically in the town since Monday. The enemies are trying the patience of our people. They should not take our patience for weakness,” IPOB’s statement read in part.

IPOB members say the region has been economically and politically marginalised since the end of the civil war. In recent years, the group increasingly began to amass foot soldiers culminating in the launch of its paramilitary arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Meanwhile, residents of the region say they are bookended by violence from both security agencies and secessionists.
