Supreme Court Judgment: “We know that there will be jubilation everywhere in Nigeria” – Labour Party Expresses Confidence

In a development that has captured the nation’s attention, the Labour Party in Nigeria has expressed unwavering confidence in an upcoming Supreme Court judgment. The party believes that the court’s decision, expected to be announced tomorrow, will declare their presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as the rightful winner of the February 25, 2023, presidential election.

Kehinde Edun, the national legal officer of the Labour Party, has been the spokesperson for the party’s optimism. In his statement, he emphasized that their belief in victory is grounded in their commitment to justice and in response to the will of the Nigerian people. Edun stated, “We are expecting victory because that is what justice demands; that is what Nigerians want. We will not lose hope. We have presented our case before the court. We are confident of victory for the Labour Party and Nigerians. We know that there will be jubilation everywhere in Nigeria.”

The stakes are high as the Supreme Court is set to deliver its judgment tomorrow, Thursday, on two appeals. These appeals seek to nullify the election of President Bola Tinubu, who represents the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who contested the election as the presidential candidate and running mate of the Labour Party, are challenging the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that President Tinubu was the valid winner of the presidential election held on February 25, 2023.
