Sunday Igboho was born on October 10, 1972, is a well-known Nigerian Yoruba self-determination activist and philanthropist. Nicknamed after his hometown, he gained prominence for his involvement in the Modakeke-Ife communal crisis in 1997.
Life And Activism
Sunday Igboho was born in Igboho town, Oyo State, Nigeria, and later moved to Modakeke in Osun state with his family. Starting as a motorcycle repairer, he transitioned to selling automobiles and established Adeson International Business Concept Ltd.
His role in the Modakeke/Ife war garnered international attention, and he later moved to Ibadan, becoming a trusted aide to former Governor Lam Adesina and working with Governor Rasheed Ladoja. As the Akoni Oodua of Yorubaland, he advocates for Yoruba rights and the Oduduwa republic.

Sunday Igboho is a Christian, married to two wives with a total of 11 children. His first wife lives in Canada with 5 children, while the second wife resides in Germany with 6 children, including three skilled football players.
Activism Journey
Sunday Igboho’s activism started during the Modakeke/Ife war in 1997-1998, where he defended the rights of the Modakeke people. His bold steps led to a close relationship with former Governor Lam Adesina, and he was appointed the Akoni Oodua of Yorubaland.
Igboho’s commitment extends to fighting for the rights of Yorubas and advocating for the Oduduwa republic.
Arrest and Release in Benin Republic
In October 2023, Sunday Igboho was released in Benin, where he had been arrested after fleeing Nigerian authorities in 2021.
The arrest was related to charges of unlawful immigration, bribery, and allegedly encouraging violence in Nigeria.
However, the Benin Republic only found evidence for the charge of unlawful migration, leading to his release for medical treatment with conditions restricting his movement within Cotonou.
