Rivers Crisis: Wike Should Resign Or Be Sacked – Arewa Leader Advises Tinubu

Arewa leader in the south, Musa Saidu, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, to intervene and prevent a potential political crisis in Rivers State. This plea follows the growing tension between Governor Sim Fubara and the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.

Saidu emphasized the critical importance of maintaining peace in Rivers State, stating, “Rivers state is the energy corridor of Nigeria and spreads to the Gulf of Guinea through the Bonny River. It must be protected by the federal government from political crisis.” He expressed concerns that any upheaval in the state could deter investors, creating a ripple effect across the Niger Delta region.

The Arewa leader highlighted the potential economic impact, saying, “If there is a crisis in Rivers state, it will be disruptive to the economy of the country because the crisis will spread across Niger Delta.”

Saidu urged President Tinubu to take action to prevent further escalation, suggesting either Wike’s resignation or removal from office. He stated, “The Minister should resign from office or be sacked. If the federal government allows Abuja to be the base to plot a crisis for Rivers state, the effect may rub on the system.”

He also cautioned President Tinubu about the political dynamics, noting, “President Tinubu should know that Wike aspired for the presidency in another party, so he has to be careful.” Saidu expressed concerns that the situation might be a ploy to destabilize Tinubu’s government for another candidate in the next election.
