Rivers Assembly Complex Demolition: Gov Fubara’s Startling Revelation

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has provided insight into the early morning demolition of the State House of Assembly complex, citing structural defects stemming from a recent fire incident. Over ten bulldozers were deployed for the demolition, conducted under tight security.

Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joseph Johnson, clarified that the decision was prompted by experts’ warnings about the building’s integrity post-explosion. The recent clash between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, now FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had previously seen suspected political thugs burn the Assembly Complex.

Johnson explained, “Continuing to use the building in its present state would be disastrous.” The government, after attempting cost-saving repairs, yielded to the superior view of rebuilding for a more suitable structure. In the interim, an alternative venue has been provided for Assembly affairs while reconstruction plans are underway.
