A local Government under Lagos State has ordered POS operators to pay a sum of N100 Daily or their shop will be closed.
The rule was made by the executive chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Council, Ajegunle Area, Lagos State who ordered POS Operators to pay a sum of N100 daily or their shop will be closed.
This raised reactions, and the association of Point Of Sales operators kicked against the illegal levy that was slammed on them. The operators petitioned the Lagos Government and House of Assembly to put a halt to the extra burden laid on them.
A spokesman for the group spoke with our correspondent and expressed his sadness ” How could the Local Government Chairman slam an illegal feed on us, asking us to pay 100 from Monday to Friday or our shop will be locked, we pay other tax levies to the state Government, we also tax on our shops annually to the Local Government and the outrageous shop rent.
“The evil, exploitative, heartless act was suggested by members of the All Progressives Congress party and the chairman approved it, they are making life hard for entrepreneurs, we hereby call on the State Government and House of Assembly to intervene over this obnoxious policy”.
