Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has delivered his inaugural message to the people of Ondo state, urging renewed unity and commitment to the state’s development. Taking over from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu during his medical leave, Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the recent political situation as a “temporary delay” but assured the public that the government had “recovered.”
In a statewide broadcast on Thursday, Aiyedatiwa addressed the challenges posed by Akeredolu’s health concerns, describing the surrounding intrigues as “avoidable distractions.” He emphasized the importance of collective efforts to overcome these challenges and move forward.
Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to key figures, including President Bola Tinubu, APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and Pa Reuben Fasoranti, for their roles in maintaining peace and stability during the period of uncertainty.
Pledging to continue Governor Akeredolu’s legacy, the acting governor called for collaboration between state officials and citizens to fulfill promises made to the people of Ondo. He acknowledged the importance of faith in navigating challenges, stating, “It is not for us as humans to question God but to pray for His mercies upon our lives.”
Aiyedatiwa extended appreciation to the Judiciary for its courage and commitment to protecting democracy and the constitution. He emphasized the need to learn from the recent episode, expressing confidence that the state’s democracy would be enriched.
With a focus on the future, Aiyedatiwa encouraged genuine support, cooperation, and dedication from every member of the Ondo state government. He concluded by appealing to the citizens to continue praying for Governor Akeredolu’s swift recovery.
